Hon. Renée Yanta

Judge Renée Yanta is a former Bexar County District Court judge and appellate advocate. She served as judge of the 73rd and 150th Judicial District Courts, after having practiced as a civil appellate lawyer statewide. Judge Yanta earned her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law and a B.S. from the University of Texas. She is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law.

On the bench, Judge Yanta handled the full range of civil cases and was known for her interest in improving the juvenile and foster care systems, specifically through the founding of a special PEARLS Court program. She received awards such as the Law Section of the Louise B. Raggio Award and was active in bar leadership.

After retiring from the bench, Judge Yanta returned to practice as an appellate lawyer, handling a full range of legal issues in cases from personal and workplace injuries to complex business litigation. She also maintains an active alternative dispute resolution practice, mediating hundreds of cases and serving as an arbitrator in numerous disputes, including those involving workplace injuries. She serves on the Judicial Workplace Arbitrations, Inc.’s panel.
