After a distinguished 11-year tenure as the Presiding Judge of the 73rd District Court in Bexar County, Texas, Former Judge David A. Canales has transitioned to his new role as an arbitrator, mediator, and private judge. With his extensive experience overseeing thousands of hearings and trials in civil and family law during his judicial career, Former Judge Canales is ready to leverage his exceptional proficiency in handling complex legal disputes. His deep understanding of the law, honed through managing a wide array of cases, positions him as an authoritative figure in arbitration. His educational background, with a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American and a J.D. from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and class valedictorian, underpins his analytical and empathetic approach to dispute resolution.
Beyond the bench, Former Judge Canales has actively contributed to the legal community, holding significant positions such as the Chair of the Bexar County Juvenile Board and Judicial Co-Chair of the San Antonio Legal Services Association.
